we’re still Edmund
I have absolutely no problem being an Edmund. Here’s why:
Things Edmund Pevensie does besides be a sass master and sell his family out to the White Witch:
- He helps fight against the White Witch after Aslan forgives him (and is genuinely repentant about what he’s done when he was working with her!)
- He’s a kick-ass king of Narnia; C.S. Lewis’s description of him is thus: “He was a graver and quieter man than Peter, and great in council and judgment.”
- In A Horse and His Boy he leads the Narnian forces against Rabadash, who is coming to kidnap Susan (because she doesn’t want to marry that dick) along with Lucy
- In Prince Caspian, he’s the only one who believes that Lucy sees Aslan in the forest, and suggests that they follow her direction, since she got them to Narnia in the first place
- ALL OF VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER
So yes, Edmund does sell out the Pevensies to the White Witch. But I would say that he does make up for it a bit.
